Columbia # A 93 2213633 and A 93 1213874 Nagasaki Butterfly and China night - Japanese - undated- appears to a mid 1940's label (just a guess it could earlier or later.) I cannot read Japanese so no further information is available. Very nice singing and music.

Subject: China Night == Shina no Yoru
This song became popular in Japan during the 1930s and continued after WW2 to be popular with the GIs and was easy to corrupt by calling it She ain't got no yo-yo

This is one of the most popular versions of this song

Hope there are some clever computer whiz out there that upload more Japanese Songs

I have a bunch like 3000 but don"t know what to do

Misora Hibari Harumi Midori Frank Nagi are a few

I seem to like the ENKA style of the 1940 thru 1980

Enough Sayonara

Subject: A singer in two antipathetic worlds
The artist, 胡美芳,or Hu MeiFang, was of mixed Chinese and Japanese parentage, born in Wakayama, Japan. In 1941, the father was accused of being a Chinese spy, so the family moved to Shanghai. Hu Meifang entered Beijing Art School in 1943, at that time under Japanese control. Although she sang with dance bands in Beijing and recorded there, she was persecuted after the war for her Japanese connection, and relocated under a false married name to Japan. In post-war Japan she established a singing career in film and record, and became a Japanese citizen, returning to visit her family in Shanghai only after 34 years. She was for a long time the only Chinese singing star in Japan. She later made singing tours of Taiwan and Southeast Asia in the 1970's and died on November 7, 2009 at 82.

Subject: Thanks and credits / lyrics
I just wanted to thank the contributor for uploading this, as it is the only way that I have to hear the recording of my grandfather's old vinyl album that he brought back from the Korean War.

edit: The credits for this album were in a song sheet translation located inside the slipcover.
